Zachariah Ernst & Son Tavern & Brewery  (1819-1824)

Zachariah Ernst opened the saloon and brewery a few doors east of attorney John H. Piatt’s office at 2nd & Broadway to serve “Porter, Beer and Ale“. By the 1825 city directory, Ernst was no longer listed as living or working in town.

Ernst also had an existing distillery on Symmes (Third) Street east of Deer Creek (Eggleston Avenue) at the time the brewery was opened.
