William Floyd Brewery  (1813-1818)

William Floyd’s brewery opened in 1813 on the east end of 5th Street several blocks from the river, and advertised in the Liberty Hall beer production of 12,000 bushels of barley at a price of 62 and 1/2 cents per bushel. Floyd competed with the Embree brewery for several years, but a lack of a sustainable water supply at the location hampered production output, and the brewery closed by 1818.
