Thomas Wood Brewery (1817-1822)
Thomas Wood had established a small brewery in his residence on “Fifth, b. Vine and Race” according to the 1819 city directory. By 1822, Wood became partners with fellow Englishman William Metcalf, and moved the brewery down to Water Street near the Embree brewery.
By 1834, he was in a different partnership in yet another brewery. Wood’s evolving business relationships would be mirrored by countless other brewers over the years. |
